If there’s one lesson I learned pretty well when doing my Thesis on programming, it was to keep a log of everything I do. Day by day.
At first I used Microsoft Word, but it didn’t really feel like a good option. I suppose I could have added a bunch of macrons in it to work as I wanted, but i decided not to waste project time doing that. So I tried different software and I ran into Smart Diary Suite.
It has a simple GUI but lots of features to make any logkeeper happy. One of the best features is the “Life facts”. Life facts are simple variables that can contain booleans, numbers or text, you can fill them in for every diary entry you make. The results can be shown in graphs based on the digits, or you can use them to filter the entries when searching.
The Diary also has a private calendar and contact list. Another fun feature is a medical log where you can draw on a picture of a human, where and when you had pain and use that information as a “Life fact” too.
The program has a strong focus on security, so it will lock itself if the window gets minimized or you simply don’t use it for a while – and you will have to enter the password to go on using it. So if you leave your desktop for a while, just minimize your diary and it will lock itself automatically (that is optional of course).
If you want to keep notes, that are not diary entries, you can do that as well, you can also keep lists of your favorite recipes and count the calories in them.
The programmers seem to work full time to keep the features coming, so this program will keep growing for a long while.
There are different versions of this program, one is free. The others costs, but really, it’s not expensive. As for me I want all features available so I will go for the Medical version, its the biggest and most expensive version… but it’s worth it.
Honestly, I wish I had the passion and time to develop my software as the programmers of Smart Diary Suite have. Well well. This program will surely make my life simpler and then maybe I will have more time for my own software development projects 🙂
My suggestion is, get the free version and try it out. If you want more then buy an upgrade.
The free version can only use a few life-facts (who needs more than 8 anyway) and it doesn’t have the medical part. But the important features are there, the diary, the calendar and tasks – and that is basically all you need to keep your secrets secret and your life in order.
