When I installed Windows 8 on my Sony Vaio VPCF13M1E I selected to format the whole drive (though not removing the recovery partition). Mostly because I wanted a clean windows without all the extra apps added by Sony (I hate the Gate app). Only problem was that when I did that I also got rid of Corel WinDVD BD player and I really like that program.
I am not a fan of Corel, but I truly love that program!
So I called the Sony Vaio support and they told me to contact Corel. (Well not much help from Sony Vaio).
I decided to download all the downloads for Sony Vaio available at Sony Vaio support site.
There I found the installation package for “Vaio care” (EP0000261503.exe), make sure to download the Vaio update package (EP0000260866.exe)as well.
I installed it and to my surprise, it did work. It found the recovery partition but warned me that the partition was not created for my version of Windows (it was created for Windows 7).
I chose to go on and lo and behold… I found Corel WinDVD BD player.
Alas… even after updating Corel WinDVD it did not work on Win8.
A, well it was worth a try. Anyway, I got some of specific the drivers and apps that the VAIO wants to have, so now it works smoother
